Netflix Across Gadgets
Do you want to watch movies, TV series or any other videos in the comforts of your own home? Netflix is definitely what you need. Netflix is an Internet media streaming video provider based in America. It is a subscription-based movie and television show rental service that offers media to subscribers via Internet streaming and through US mail. For as low as 17 US dollars a month, users can enjoy unlimited hours of video streaming with no additional cost. For DVD rentals, users only need to pay 5 US dollars to rent two DVDs at a time, which can be viewed only through a computer. Consumers can keep the DVD as long as they want but to rent new DVDs, the previously borrowed DVD must be mailed back to Netflix first.
For video game console owners, they can also enjoy watching Netflix videos via their consoles. In 2008, Netflix videos can be viewed via the Xbox 360, if users are subscribed to Xbox Live and of course, to Netflix as well. A year after, Sony announced that Netflix will also be available to the PlayStation 3 which proved to be a good move on the part of Netflix as the PS3 became the device that was used to watch Netflix the most. Finally in 2010, the service was also made available to Wii, but it was not capable of HD resolution. Netflix even became more portable by being available to handheld consoles like the Nintendo 3DS and the PlayStation Vita in the years 2011 and 2012 respectively. Netflix even ventured to the smartphone industry by making the service available to Apple’s iPhone, Android phones, and Windows phones.
Upon the continued success of the company, Netflix eventually decided to expand by offering their services to various countries worldwide. It was first available in Canada, then reaching South America, and even European countries like United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Finland, and more.
Now, Netflix already has 40 million customers in total, making the company one of the top service providers in the Internet video streaming line. Although illegal downloading of movies is now prevalent, Netflix is still considered as the number one choice of many consumers worldwide.
